Donating furniture in Gainesville: the short version
Most donation centers in Gainesville take furniture that is clean, sturdy, and ready for someone else to use: dressers, tables, chairs, bookshelves, and couches without rips or stains. Most turn away used mattresses, cribs, car seats, large appliances, and anything broken, stained, or water damaged. Rules vary by location, and some only take small pieces, so call before you load a sofa into the truck.
One change to know about: Habitat for Humanity of Hall County closed its ReStore permanently on September 4, 2026. The places below are in Gainesville, Oakwood, Flowery Branch, and Buford, and each organization's own website says it accepts furniture.

What most donation centers won't take
Used mattresses and box springs. Goodwill, America's Thrift, and Atlanta Mission all turn them away.
Cribs and car seats. Goodwill and America's Thrift refuse both. Atlanta Mission refuses car seats and cribs with a sliding side rail.
Large and built-in appliances. Goodwill and America's Thrift won't take washers, dryers, or other large appliances, and Atlanta Mission won't take built-in or gas appliances.
Damaged furniture. Anything ripped, broken, stained, water damaged, or in need of repair. Habitat for Humanity says upholstered and leather pieces must be free of tears, stains, and pet damage.
Oversized pieces at some locations. Value Village lists small furniture only, and Atlanta Mission caps desks at 4 feet long.
When donation pickup isn't an option
Free furniture pickup is hard to find here. Goodwill's pickups cost a fee, and America's Thrift doesn't pick up furniture. Even a free pickup won't help if the couch is upstairs or half of what you're clearing out is stuff no donation center will take.
We haul everything in one trip: the dresser that can be donated, the mattress that can't, the broken recliner, and the boxes of odds and ends. We set aside usable furniture and take it to local donation centers ourselves, and the rest gets recycled or goes to the landfill.
A single item starts at $125. Mattresses start at $75 for the first one, and a refrigerator or freezer is $110. See furniture and appliance removal or our pricing, or text photos to 678-224-1606 for a free quote.
