Refrigerator and freezer disposal, done right
Fridges, freezers and AC units hold refrigerant, which has to be recovered, not vented. We haul them whole and take them to a facility that recovers it. The Hall County Landfill charges a fee for every appliance with Freon, so a fridge isn't something you can toss in a regular dump run. See our Hall County dump fees guide if you'd rather haul it yourself.
Before we arrive
Empty the fridge, freezer, washer and dishwasher
Unplug fridges and freezers a day early so they can defrost and drain
Shut off the water and disconnect hoses on washers, dishwashers and ice makers
Have a licensed pro disconnect and cap any gas line on a dryer or range. We don't disconnect gas.
Working appliances get a second life
If an appliance still works and a local donation center will take it, we drop it off instead of scrapping it. Everything else goes to metal recycling. Our Gainesville donation guide lists where furniture and appliances can go.
Appliance removal questions
Does the appliance have to work?
No. Working, broken, rusted or missing parts, we take it.
Will a fridge fit through my door?
Usually. If it won't, we take the fridge doors off or remove the house door, then put everything back.
Can you take other junk at the same time?
Yes. Furniture, mattresses and garage junk can go on the same trip. See furniture and appliance removal and mattress removal.
