Where furniture, mattresses and debris go in Forsyth County

Because the recycling centers turn away bulky items, the county points residents to private sites. Most of them don't post prices online, so call before you load up.

  • Eagle Point Landfill (GFL Environmental): 8880 Old Federal Road, Ball Ground. 770-781-2721. The county lists it for household trash, furniture, mattresses, construction debris and yard waste. Open Monday through Friday, 3:30 a.m. to 4:30 p.m., and Saturday, 7 a.m. to noon.

  • Greenleaf Recycling: 4512 Keith Bridge Road, Cumming. 770-888-3355. A construction and demolition landfill and transfer station.

Household hazardous waste day

Forsyth County and Keep Forsyth County Beautiful hold a household hazardous waste event twice a year. The fall 2026 event is Saturday, November 7, from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. at the Freedom Park campus, 2435 Freedom Parkway. You have to register online first, and spots are first come, first served. It takes paint, electronics, cleaners, oils, fuels, batteries, fluorescent bulbs, herbicides and pesticides. It is free, with a $5 donation suggested.

Trash pickup in Forsyth County

Forsyth County does not offer curbside trash pickup. Outside Cumming, you either use the recycling centers or hire a private hauler, and some HOAs require a specific one. The county's 2026 hauler list names Custom Disposal, Legacy Disposal, Red Oak Sanitation, Seegreen Services, and Waste Pro of North GA as full-service residential haulers.

Inside Cumming city limits, Cumming Utilities contracts with Red Oak Sanitation for Friday pickup: $19.50 a month without recycling or $23.50 with it in 2026. The City Streets Department also picks up yard debris, furniture, appliances and carpet on Mondays and Wednesdays at no charge, but not mattresses, tires or paint. Call 770-781-2019 to check what qualifies.

What a dump run really costs

For a few bags of trash, the recycling centers are hard to beat at 50 cents to $1 a bag. A couch, a mattress or a pile of remodeling debris is another story. The centers won't take them, the private landfills set their own rates, and a round trip to Ball Ground with a loaded truck can eat half a day.

That is the work we do. We load everything ourselves, sort out what can be donated, and haul the rest away. A single item starts at $125 and a full trailer load starts around $550. See our pricing or text photos to 678-224-1606 for a free quote. We haul from Cumming, Buford and nearby towns.
